G Star Crossovers…
Author: Adelle Walsh | June 9th, 2009Not necessarily the obvious choice of collaborative work for a brand but then the G Star is far from ordinary. The denim experts took to some huge design projects, re-designing, a bike, a land rover and even a ferry! The series of projects explored the application of the brands aesthetics to objects outside of their own realms…
G Star took product development to a whole new level with the interior design of a ferry on the Amstel River in Amsterdam. The luxury 25 seater ferry was created using G Star’s trademark RAW materials including wood, leather, canvas and steel, updating an original 80 year old classic design bringing it into the 21st century.
Landrover an iconic brand teamed up with G Star to produce an exclusive limited edition of the classic Defender 110 station wagon. The two brands both share the same core values and created a small number of penine grey vehicles with G Star finishes including a brown leatherette roof, G Star logo trim wheels as well as each of the fleet being give its own unique serial code etched into the seating.
And finally G Star turned green with the latest of their crossover collections, the G Star Raw Cannondale bike. With society becoming more eco friendly and socially aware, five hundred specially designed versions of the ’08 Bad Boy Cannondale bike were released all with special finishes, colour matched parts and G Star graphics.
Surging forward with exquisite design and production on items other than textiles G Star prove that they are much much more than a specialist denim brand.
