Lyle & Scott

Author: Adelle Walsh | July 7th, 2009

Scottish brand Lyle & Scott have become one of the biggest re-branding success stories of recent years, with the golden eagle emblem being adorned by a whole new fashion conscious market.

Founded in 1874 in the Scottish borders, the eagle logo did not feature on any clothing until 1960 almost 100 years later. Originally designed for golf attire, they dressed they US players at the 1969 Ryder Cup and went on to sponsor golfer Lee Westwood in 1998.

It was not until 2003, after the launch of a womenswear range and a brand update that the Lyle & Scott Vintage range launched creating a whole new line of contemporary polo shirts, knits and shirts that lead to the resurgence of the Scottish brand. Favoured from every fashion tribe, from the cool indie kids to hip hop street style  and the classic preppy look, the diffusion line has become the most successful for the brand to date leading to it being one of the most sought after barnds in recent years.
